Vintage Mid Century Retro Pottery Face Wall Pocket

Offered is this o
riginal mid 20th century to 1970's pottery wall pocket.  It appears to be a woman's head or perhaps an American Indian?  It is signed on the back but all I can make out is the second word "earth".  It measures 8" high by 8.5" across and it weighs 2 pounds 5 ounces.  It is glazed inside and front, the back in not glazed and is a cream color pottery.
