    Description

    This truly remarkable very heavy wine coaster features a gallery of six three dimensional elephant trunk to trunk in three pairs.  The coaster stands on three ball feet.  It is 4.5" in diameter with clearance for a 3 7/8" bottle.  It is 2 3/4" tall (max.).  It weighs a heavy 312 grams.  I think it American and dates to c. 1960-70.  It has a maker's name but it unclear (double struck).  It is also marked .925.  Aside from some wine stains/etching on the floor of the coaster, it is in great condition.  The wine coaster seems to be inspired by the work of the famous silversmith Patrick Mavros.
