    Description

    Up for bid is a fine Victorian gilt sterling square serving basket by Gorham.  The piece is about 1 3/8 inches tall at the sides by 7 ¾ inches square and weighs 214 grams.  The basket is lightly gilded overall.  It has open basket weave corners and repousse chased floral panels on each side.  The dish is of a higher quality than average, with fine hand chasing to the flowers rather than machine stamping.  The piece has not been monogrammed.  The piece is marked with a Gorham trademark, a date code for 1891, “880” and “STERLING”.
    Condition on the piece is good.  The gilding is worn, and it is very slightly twisted.  There are a few minor dings and spots.  A fine piece of Gorham silver!
