Beautiful Large c1900 Redlich Sterling Silver Low Compote / Tazza 13.5" diameter
Presented is a fabulous Redlich sterling silver low compote or tazza. This piece dates to around the early 1900s. The bowl is beautifully decorated with ornate openwork designs of baskets of flowers, scrolling foliage, and woven trellises. These designs are very well done, with hand engraved detailing. The bowl has an applied rim of classical shell and foliate decoration. The center has a monogram of H in decorated Gothic script.
This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The underside of the piece is stamped 'sterling' and with the maker's mark for Redlich, as well as the retail mark for Grainger-Hannan-Kay Co, the diameter 13 1/2 inches, and the number 6254.
The compote is about 13 5/8 inches in diameter and stands about 3 1/8 inches tall.
The bowl weighs 1085 grams or 38.3 regular ounces.
