I've never cut tile before but the concept is pretty straight forward. I am tiling a bathroom and a laundry room floor. This cuts ceramic tile very well and straight. Since you're snapping a ceramic tile the edge will have microscopic imperfections but once grouted you can't see them at all. I found the best way to use this is to really push hard as you're scoring the tile and score about 7-8 times. When snapping make sure the rubber presser is centered and perpendicular to the score line. I also found that if you press the snapper lower down on the tile (towards you) there will be no cracking of any tiles.

This cutter caused me to have so much waste that I almost had to go buy another box of tile just for the few pieced I needed to finish the job. After a while, though, I went back to and bought the next model up and was very satisfied with that one. My porcelain tiles did not snap evenly at all on this model. At only half an inch, the wheel was not a standard size and you don't get a replacement in the handle. It's also not stocked at my so I would have had to special order a wheel just to see if it helped cut any better. Trust me, the next model up is well worth the price, and it was still only in the range.

This tool worked very well for me. I used it to cut porcelain tiles for my bathroom project and it did not dissappoint.I learnt during the process that applying a bit more pressure when scoring porcelian tile works best. This gives a cleaner cut and makes breaking the tile a breeze.

I've never used one before but it gets the job done. it works best when you press to crack on the side that's towards our nearest you.

I was weary of buying this tile cutter vs more expensive ones due to the reviews, but I just finished the project and this thing worked better than expected! I'm wondering if the bad reviews used a different tile? I installed 3x6 ceramic subway tiles and this cutter was accurate and quick. I would strongly recommend if you are doing a similar project.

This thing works greak on my ceramic tile. Easy to use, inexpensive, and cuts straight. My only suggestion for improvement is that the piece used to push down on the tile sometimes gets caught on the metal piece holding the tile in place, but it’s easy to just move it out of the way.

I have seen people cut tile before but I have never done it myself. I was not very sure I could do it. Well I gave it try and must say it came out very good and the Vnvil 14" tile cutter help out so much for my first time it worked and fireplace came out looking great.
Good for repairs

If I was going to do an entire floor I would probably get a "better" cutter. This worked fine for what I needed it to do which was a repair of a floor I tiled many years ago in a bath that is now being remodeled. It required taking out the last row of small cuts and two full tiles and install new cuts that were wider to fill in the gap to the wall. A radiator that was previously there was removed and the cuts were too short to be able to cover with baseboard. So all the tiles were cuts and this worked fine. There were no broken tiles at all. The trick is to be sure the scoring is done continuously and that the glaze is all scored and when snapping the tile to keep it close to the one end. What I didn't like was that I noticed it didn't give a clean score. There was a small amount of chipping where the cut was made but it didn't matter in my case since it would go under the baseboard and when grouting that would easily be covered. It was not substantial but it did occur which is why I would get a "better" cutter hoping for a sharper blade if this was not just a repair. I'm 70 and a woman so strength is not a requirement necessarily.
