ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SILVER ENGRAVED JEWELRY DISH W/H 5 COINS LISBON/PORTUGAL/1887

Up for sale an Antique Victorian silver/engraved/jewelry/trinket dish with 5 inlaid coins from Lisbon/Portugal/1887.
The dish is a square in the shape of a four-leaf clover with rounded corners and 4 round feet mounted below. Magnificent workmanship in typical Victorian style with embedded five 400 Portuguese Reisa silver coins from 1798,1812,1835.All ornaments are hand engraved, with the top edge decorated with a beautiful braided "rope". Hallmarked to the middle coin with "seated wild boar" in an irregular rhombus with two dashes below the head for: 833/Lisbon/1887 purity silver. The other hallmark is quite illegible but looks very much like the J.Rosas & Co. silversmith's mark to me. In my opinion, the dish was used to place rings, jewelry, coins, business cards and other trinkets.Weight 296 grams!

It is a wonderful piece of jewellery history which is unique in its kind!You won't find another like it!
