Sterling Silver Coasters - Antique George IV (1820)
Check Out Our Feedback
Description
These exceptional antique sterling silver coasters have a circular rounded shaped form.
The body of each coaster is embellished with fine and impressive Regency style embossed scrolling leaf and floral designs, segmented with vertical bud motifs.
Each coaster is ornamented with an impressive applied floral and opposing scrolling foliate decorated border to the upper shaped rim.
These silver bottle coasters retain the original turned pear wood bases, each with the original central silver button embellished with the contemporary bright cut engraved coat of arms depiCting an escutcheon party per pale, at fess point a sun.
These antique coasters are fitted with green baize to the underside.
The broad depth of the coaster gallery is a fine and desirable feature; such deep coasters are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
Condition
These antique sterling silver coasters are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The applied and embossed decoration is very sharp and the engraved heraldic markings are very crisp.
Full hallmarks struck to the rim of each coaster are very clear; the nature of the coaster diCtates the location of the hallmarks to the rim of the base. In many extant coasters, because of this, the hallmarks may become very worn and illegible. In this instance however the hallmarks remain very clear.
RefleCtions in photographs may detraCt from the true representation of these pieces of antique silverware.
